The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kenya to the United Nations in collaboration with The Women's Environment & Development Organization (WEDO), the Green Belt Movement International (GBMI), the International Council of Women (ICW) and the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF) are having a celebration in honour of Nobel Laureate Prof. Wangari Maathai.
This event, in celebration of Prof. Wangari Maathai, Founder of the Green Belt Movement and 2004 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, will commemorate the 10th of her Nobel Peace Prize award and the unveiling of a plaque to mark the tree that she planted on May 17, 2005 during the 5th Session of the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF) in the garden on the North Lawn of the United Nations Headquarters.
