Armed conflicts pose a major obstacle to development. In modern day conflicts, women often bear the brunt of their effects. Early investment in development allows countries to recover more quickly once a conflict is over. At the same time, investing in women's potential has proven to boost development efforts. The Women, Peace and Security agenda is therefore intrinsically linked to the post-2015 development agenda and the SDGs. In light of the recent conclusion of the Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals, Amina J. Mohammed, Special Advisor of the SG on Post-2015 Development Planning, will speak about the importance of adequately reflecting women's role in conflict-affected situations, post-conflict development, gender equality and the empowerment of women in the SDGs.
Speaker: Amina J. Mohammed Special Advisor of the Secretary-General on Post-2015 Development Planning
