Who are you?

 

Security Council Member
  • Defend women’s meaningful participation, including for women civil society in peace processes;

  • Recognise women’s agency in conflict prevention through reconstruction processes rather than categorising women primarily as victims;

  • Reorient peace work around local women’s experiences and voices for justice and rights;

  • Ensure consistent conflict analysis that recognises gendered power and takes action toward equality and non-violence;

  • Ask for updates on the United Nations reporting on and taking action to strengthen women’s participation, protection, and rights in conflict situations;

  • Support high-level leadership on the Women, Peace and Security Agenda in the UN;

  • Implement Women, Peace and Security commitments in all country and thematic work for the Council such as mandate renewals.

United Nations Body
  • Defend women’s meaningful participation, including for women civil society in peace processes;

  • Take action to implement the UN system-wide Strategic Results Framework on UNSCR1325;

  • Prioritise Women, Peace and Security among United Nations Leadership;

  • Use gender-sensitive training and gender budgeting to strengthen policies and programs on women’s human rights, especially in conflict settings;

  • Consult and include women civil society groups in design and implementation of programming;

  • Strengthen gender-sensitive and sex-disaggregated data collection, analysis and dissemination;

  • Act as a proactive conflict prevention body instead of a conflict management body.

United Nations Member State
  • #MoveTheMoney from war to peace by increasing its social spending and reducing its military spending;

  • Adopt, adequately finance, and implement a National Action Plan (NAP) on Women, Peace and Security;

  • Make progressive commitments for the 2015 High-Level Review, and take action;

  • Support and champion Women, Peace and Security including women’s participation in peace processes;

  • Listen and learn from the experts: Women Civil Society! Consult and include women civil society groups at home and abroad today.

Civil Society Actor
  • Mobilise and connect movements to build solidarity for women’s participation, protection, and rights across the conflict prevention spectrum;
  • Lobby your government to #MoveTheMoney from war to peace by increasing its social spending and reducing its military spending;
  • Push for implementation of UNSCR1325 through local action plans, National Action Plans (NAPs), or Regional Action Plans (RAPs), that incorporates strong accountability mechanisms, sustainable budget, and strong disarmament provisions;
  • Support programmes and advocacy efforts that urge donors to fund grassroots women’s leaders and civil society organisations;
  • Strengthen partnerships with like-minded groups and raise awareness about #FeministPeace;;
  • Use social media to share reports, advocacy tools, infographics, hashtags, and other resources that push the Women, Peace and Security Agenda forward.
